Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado Dazzles in Gold with Daughter at Metropolitan Fashion Week Event

Just call her Miss Golden Girl.

Alicia Machado dazzled in a fitted gold gown at the Metropolitan Fashion Week Closing Gala and Awards Show in Burbank, California, Saturday night.

The former Miss Universe, whom Hillary Clinton mentioned during the first presidential debate Monday, presented an award at the event while her 8-year-old daughter Dinorah showed off her inherited modeling skills in a pink dress and flower crown.

The Venezuelan-born beauty born thanked her supporters when she presented the award for outstanding ensemble for makeup artist and hair styling.

"Thank you very, very much to all the people who are supporting me and respect me," she said.

Alicia Machado has been the subject of series of offensive tweets and commentary from Republican nominee Donald Trump, who once called her "Miss Piggy" for gaining weight during her reign as Miss Universe.

Trump called in to Fox and Friends last Tuesday morning and called Machado "the worst we ever had" in the beauty pageant.

"She was the winner, and she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem," Trump says. "Hillary went back into the years and she found this – this was many years ago – and found the girl, and talked about her like she was Mother Teresa, and it wasn't quite that way, and that's okay, Hillary has to do what she has to do."

Alicia Machado said this week that Trump was a contributing factor to eating disorders she developed.

"I had a lot of problems," she revealed to Good Morning America last Wednesday. "Anorexic, bulimic – that kind of problems."

"You know, with 18 years old, when you are growing up, that was horrible for me," she told Natalie Morales later on Today. "My self-esteem was on the floor."
