I agree, put out all the info you got and he may either read it or hear of it from someone else and stop his assault and robbery game. He's surely got friends who may see his number and hear the story and turn him in or threaten to report him. That would give him something to think about if someone sees something of the incident and makes him realize he's playing with fire.
