Some bulletin boards don't allow new users to post until at least 1 day after they create their login, or require their posts to be moderated for the first week after their create their login. That prevents all the robots and spammers from posting since they just move on to the next website that doesn't have this protection, while at the same time keeping the regulars happy with immediate postings.
