Default Some suggestions

Thanks for looking into this, I am not sure what your developer is using in terms of programming language or database utility, I have some web programming background from ages ago but please indulge me on $0.02 as far as the issue(s) here:

I have not been on this site for quite a while but I do recall frustration from a few years back so this isn't a completely new issue, something had been broken for quite a long time.

I have some question on how users are being authenticated and such info is retained, as the problem seems to result when paging due to form input. There are several ways PW authentication can be handled. Typically there is a table with a "user" and a "password" field, the default user field in the document is NULL or points to a null entry. Submitting a username will start a search in the user column and if one is found, the record/array number will be noted, and the PW for that record field will be compared with the PW name entered in the form. If the entry value is the same as the record field, the username will be recorded as a string value and the record number will be recorded, with the idea that the non-zero record value enables access etc. My question is are these global values handled on a particular default page or location called when different pages are called, or are these local values passed from page to page? At times when submitting a reply to a discussion, I am sent to the page informing me that my password can't be found, so I have to re-enter my credentials. My question is as follows, does submission of the "Submit Reply" or "Edit" buttons result in some deletion on the default displayed page that dumps user credentials or does not transfer them to the new page? Hope that question makes sense to somebody on your team.
