The State has authorized all counties to allow massage establishments to resume starting on June 19, 2020. This means the decision of exactly when the massage business can resume is now up to each individual county. As this is a county by county decision each county may have their own specific reopening protocols. In addition to following the June 12, 2020 issued State Guidance for massage services each business owner and massage worker must also follow their own specific county's reopening protocols. Each massage store must now wait to start again until their particular county health department authorizes their business reopening. Many counties in the state have not addressed massage services yet. Massage stores in each county are waiting for County Guidance and authorization to begin. In all state reopening phases nearly every county health department has required all types of different businesses to first file with their department numerous pages of worksite specific COVID-19 prevention plans and post the written plans in the business for the public in full view along with health department fliers posted at the entrance plus also submit a written attestation registration form to the health department then city code compliance officials follow up with on site checks for compliance. These guidelines vary from county to county and depend on each specific type of business. Massage stores will follow the similar protocols for hair salons, barbershops, and nail salons.
