Most barbers and hair stylists pay 25% of their net sales in "chair rent", and keep their tips. I don't for one minute buy that "human trafficking" bit put out by the D.A.'s office and L/E. Discussions I've had with officers that work this venue show that MP prosty cases are VERY tough to make, and getting the worker bees to spill about misdemeanor acts they are "forced" to commit is an easy route to pimping/pandering plea-outs by MMS or actual business owner, who is often fictitious or walled off by paper chases.

Bottom line--treat your employees well, don't turn the place into an anthill, DON'T RIP OFF THE CUSTOMERS--and a joint's chances of staying open are pretty good. If the neighbors start bitching, move the joint--cops and code enforcement are complaint-driven, and those sorts of pissing contests are a near-certain loser.

Of course they do, and trust me, Betty@Urban still cleared a minimum of $2000 per day after the "room rent". Not bad for an uneducated single mom from Rancho Cucamonga. I think you guys are giving too much credit to the cops. Most of the press they release is about Human Traficking BS. Makes them sound puffy! Also they want to scare the mms with a felony charge. I woud bet most of the actual sentences either get negotiated down or even thrown out with a good lawyer. You seldom hear of amp mgr doing time... I seldom hear of Johns or providers getting time either. Its mostly fines or warnings.
