Exclamation Neuroscientist says: Trump has mental disorder that makes him dangerous world leader

A Neuroscientist explains: Trump has a mental disorder that makes him a dangerous world leader

According to a number of top U.S. psychologists, like Harvard professor and researcher Howard Gardner, Donald Trump is a “textbook” narcissist. In fact, he fits the profile so well that clinical psychologist George Simon told Vanity Fair, “He’s so classic that I’m archiving video clips of him to use in workshops.”

This puts Trump in the same category as a number of infamous dictators like Muammar Gaddafi, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Saddam Hussein. And although there are narcissists out there who entertain us, innovate, or create great art, when a narcissist is given immense power over people’s lives, they can behave much differently.

As the 2016 presidential election grows nearer we must ask ourselves, if elected president would Donald Trump act on the behalf of the will of the people, or would he behave more like a dictator—silencing any dissenting voices, perpetually refusing to compromise, and being oppressive to certain groups? To answer that, we should ask a little bit more about what makes a narcissist tick, and how they tend to behave when given free rein.

What is it exactly that makes someone a certifiable narcissist and not simply a person who has a healthy amount of confidence and a burning desire to achieve great goals? According to the Mayo Clinic, narcissistic personality disorder is “a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others.”

But a lack of empathy is just one part of narcissistic personality disorder. Just beneath the surface layer of overwhelming arrogance lies a delicate self-esteem that is easily injured by any form of criticism. We have all seen Trump unjustifiably lash out at a number of people with harsh and often extremely odd personal attacks.

While a narcissistic personality might be one of the traits that allowed Trump to be such a successful businessman and reality TV star, it is also the trait that makes him potentially dangerous as a political leader.

What happens when another world leader who is a loose cannon doesn’t give Trump the admiration that he feels he deserves? How would a President Trump react when he feels he is being put down or undermined?

Will we see the start of World War III because the leader of the most important nation in the world doesn’t feel that others are kissing his ass as much as they should be? Narcissistic personality disorder is known to have strong negative effects on relationships, and when it comes to being an effective and responsible world leader, diplomacy is everything.

If it is not clear how the promise of great power can change an essentially harmless narcissist into someone oppressive, let’s see how Donald Trump’s political views have changed thus far.

It is a well-known fact that in the past Trump was a registered democrat in New York who was in favor of liberal causes like abortion rights and was pals with the Clintons. The Trump that New York City knew in the past, is nothing like the intolerant xenophobe Trump appears to be today.

But since the promise of power has consumed him, he has become the poster boy for ultra-right wing intolerance. This change in personality and core values perfectly illustrates how the promise of power can transform narcissists. And as the race for the Republican nominee progresses, it has become increasingly obvious that Trump’s yearning to rule greatly exceeds his desire to “Make America Great Again,” as his slogan says.

The position of President of the United States is one that requires great empathy, a certain amount of humility, the ability to preserve relationships, and a willingness to establish new ones. These are all qualities that the narcissist lacks, and with their absence comes danger. Do we really want to put all Americans, and even the entire world, at great risk by giving a narcissist the nuclear codes?

Donald Trump is very much like Gollum from Lord of the Rings, and the presidency is his “one ring to rule them all.” In this case we do not have the option of destroying the ring. The best we can strive for is keeping it out of the possession of those who cannot resist abusing its power.

Trump is a narcissist, no disputing that. A major one. And if you've followed Hillary at all over the years, there's no denying that she is one too, though not as much. Just look at her crazy eyes, even if you never read about her bizarre tenure as First Lady to Bill, etc. Either way, we'll end up with a narcissist in the White House.

Is Trump dangerous? If you think he can run roughshod over Congress, the military and the public at large, maybe so. He is often compared to Hitler and Mussolini. He doesn't have anywhere near the popular support they did, and their fall and legacy has also left a strong distaste for their style of leadership in Western minds. Trump's power base is marginal. Most of those who will vote for him will do so grudgingly. They would probably vote for anyone running against Hillary. Their enthusiasm for Trump the man is lukewarm at best. And a huge percentage of the US population totally hate him, and will miss no chance to call attention to that.

He will also have to deal with a very hostile Congress, including many Republicans. Their goal will be to oppose and stymie Trump at every turn, at all costs, just to make him look bad. He will probably be impeached soon, if elected. It won't be hard to find a reason. And if anyone thinks the military will just roll over for him, I suggest reading a little book called "Seven Days in May."

I think Hillary is lucky to have Trump running against her. He is a huge distraction, which keeps people from noticing what an awful bitch she is. If she were running against anyone normal, SHE would be the "Trump" candidate.

Well for me I will watch this first debate. I will withhold judgment until I see it all play out. Should be interesting with Mark Cuban and Gennifer Flowers in the audience. I think Hillary will try very, very hard to not give much away with her facial expressions, but believe that under perceived pressure she may. This will be a proving ground to see if she can sum up the "right stuff". Trump has been able to have a presence all over the tube for a long time, and I think he has the advantage when it comes to mannerisms, expressions, etc. But that is just what I surmise. We will see. No doubt unless Hillary collapses on stage, there will be various versions of feedback, including here. Hahaha. Come on Hill, You Can Do It!!!

We'll see when it comes down to the debates.

Yayayaya. It's all BS. Hillary lies Way More than Trump. And she will never admit to many of her cover ups and lies. She thinks she is entitled. And that is where she goes Way Wrong.

I can take a lot of slop, but I can't stand a continuous LIER.

I don't know. To me, Hillary seems more like Gollum, with an obsession to be president that has lasted for many years. Did you see her crazy eyes when she announced her acceptance of the Democratic Party nomination at the end of their convention? That was her moment of a lifetime, and will only be eclipsed by her (possible/probable) election.

Trump, on the other hand, is an opportunist. I think he's more interested in proving a point (that he CAN be elected president). He doesn't seem to be too interested in learning the details of running a country, much less a super-power with a major role on the world stage. He has no idea how he will deliver on all of his fake promises, and in the end, he won't deliver if elected. He just likes to talk shit, and found that doing so gets him tons of attention, which is what he craves most.

They both have insufferably big egos, and frankly, neither one should be president, IMHO.

I wonder why there are no neuroscientists talking about Hillary's seizure disorders and collapsing like one of those fainting goats whenever there is a loud noise???

Kid, actually there are some out there(neurologists, if you meant that) on YouTube but it seems that most of them are afraid of being in the fray and don't want the negative publicity the exposure would generate. To me that one video of Hillary with the cold Chai drink when the group of reporters all at a very brief moment of silence collectively loudly interjected questions at Clinton simultaneously with the closer of them holding on to the moment to get her question out, loudly. That was the point at which Clinton's head blew back and the described Petit Mal or whatever it was of obvious involuntary head movements by Clinton started and continued unabated for what seemed like an eternity(with Clinton smiling the whole time) until her head seemed to finally stop twitching and moving all over the place, and she was finally able to continue with her smile and make a joke of it, knowing herself what had happened and reacting like it was a joke and all the reporters were in on it, and firmly holding her glass of Chai up and declaring to all of them, to watch out for the cold Chai, as if that were the cause of her involuntary head movements, which got all the reporters to laugh along with her. And she icily stared at them, as if it were a challenge to them to be on the inside of the joke and not blow her cover. That was vintage Clinton. She knew what happened. She knows she has a problem. She is just determined that she is entitled and she is going to have this office up ahead of the POTUS. I think enough of her true self will leak out before the election that voters will see what is happening with her. Already her approach to the email scandal and others that won't go away tells us a whole lot about her. Seems now younger voters are not fooled, yet is still is a while before the election.

Funny thing, yesterday at a ball game heard someone saying one of the conspiracy theories out there...not that I believe, I don't, but it was so shocking that I will bring up the subject later. It seems bizarre, and won't list the essence here in this thread. Maybe most have already heard about it. Later Kid, Sam, Lib and all...

I'm still predicting HC to win the Erection (It's OK...I'm Asian so I can make that joke LOL) as I have stated before I truly don't believe our votes mean shit and she was promised the presidency in 2016 way back when her husband was getting BJ's and cigar fun and she stood by him with that same phony smile she is known for. Another month or so to see if my prediction is accurate! If I'm wrong I will move to Cambodia and never come back to the USA again... Oh wait...if I'm wrong I should stick around to watch the train wreck with Trump in office! Maybe I should say if I'm right and HC wins I'll leave the country for good! Early retirement could be a mere 7 weeks away!!!

Yeah, yeah...I guess I can't predict too well so I won't really try. I am glad the gloves came off right away but for all the right stuff that he is for if she gets in it will be tax increases and more of the same down the road. I love the good ol USA and i'll just have to adjust lifestyle if she gets in but I really don't think down the road it will be pretty. She would have to reform her whole deal just to keep up with the job, and everything will be falling to shit, IMHO. Well we'll see. Turns out that info that the moderator had about stop and frisk was bogus as hell throughout the whole country. There was a switcheroo where it was "unconstitutional as applied" with a NY Judge, who got tossed off the case, then it came up with the next two mayors and one had it under appeal, and the next dropped it, but the stop and frisk policy never was totally ruled unconstitutional, according to a detailed analysis later tonight. So it is still being used nationwide. Some guys like Hillary because basically they think the status quo is the best we could expect. Like I say I can't predict though. I will be happy when the whole deal is over.
