What steps after the fact? Many of us have been posting for 15 or more years.

Dump our phones and desktops and replace with new ones??

I'm still waiting to hear back from one of my lawyers to give me some feedback on all of this.
I'll share when he does but he seems to prefer clients already charged rather than looking to avoid for obvious reasons.
To start with, don't post reviews. I know that's counter to the whole point of this site and our wanting to be here for the info, but it's a new world out there. We can still check review sites for leads (even if it's just to check who has the most reviews - almost always a good indicator), because there will always be those who throw caution to the wind and post their adventures, but to reduce or eliminate our own vulnerability we can simply STFU about who we've seen and what we've done.

Don't PM, email, or meet with other mongers. I've made some good friends that way, but it's also a vulnerability. Just ask the guys from Seattle who were infiltrated by 5-0. Keep it a personal, private hobby. It shouldn't be a competition anyway.

The bit about using a pay phone was kind of a joke, as they're almost impossible to find, and hard to use with a two-call system, but hey, that's how we did it in the ante-Internet days. You don't really need a phone to go to an AMP, but you do for incalls and outcalls (personally, I would never do an outcall anyway. WAY too risky for a lot of reasons). Use a burner phone if you must, but rotate them out as frequently as you can afford. Don't take them inside with you when you monger, leave them in your car.

Just be alert and aware always. Trust your gut. Remain vigilant. Read up on what's going on with regard to the hobby aside from what you see written on monger sites. Avoid technology as much as possible when engaged in hobby-related activities. For us old guys, just do what you did before cell phones and the Internet. You younger ones will have a harder time adapting, as you've grown up with technology and it is part of the only life you know, but give it a try.

As for what's already out there, reviews, contacts and such, that's all water under the bridge. Not much you can do about that now. Cover your tracks as much as you can, ditching old electronics, etc., but there's only so much you can do. Going forward is where you have the most control. Focus on that.

Default I appreciate Klaus' comments, but

Worldwide, there have been multiple acquittals in these kinds of cases.

For me, this post represents the first positive ray of light in this new era of darkness.

Remember folks, in the American system, a Jury has more power than any cop, any DA, and even more power than a Judge.

Acquit, acquit, acquit !!!!! Or dismiss dismiss dismiss.

Power to the People! ( The REAL People, not the fake people under whose name the damn power hungry slimeballs appropriate, who try to railroad honest hardworking taxpayers, whether or not they are citizens of this great country as well as the rest of the world.

Encryption is moot if the phone company can just hand over call records - all they need to do is correlate meta data of known hooker numbers and overlap the SIM card's IMEI number to the phone number of the "monger". They can then, regardless of content, correlate the monger having connected with a numerous number of hookers. Phone companies are also required now to maintain copies of up to 18 months of text messages which can be retrieved with a court order. SMS is not carried over encrypted channels - meaning the phone company of your burner phone already knows you're a pervy monger, even if they don't know who you are they just need a court order to hand the info over to LE. You all do pay CASH for your burner phones and refills, right? The NSA already has this information, so even the phone company does not need to hand it over - but for that to happen you would need to be charged with a federal crime.

Default Thanks man

Good points.

Often federal cases involve subpeonas of phone and banks records.... usually.
Local Superior Court cases they usually use what they can grab physically from their prey

Right, so if phone companies can give over SMS records and you refuse to provide unencrypted access to your phone that can then be proved you knowingly knew the content, they can get you for obstructing justice as well.

What I personally take from this is:

* Make sure the SMS messages you send do not contain incriminating messages that can be tied to you or your address. Ask yourself if any SMS messages you have ever sent contain your home address, work address, full name, photos of you - etc. If you must communicate this information, do so over voice.

* Make sure the phone and SIM can't be tied to you. Don't buy burner phones with a credit card. Use a gift card paid for with cash or buy the phone with cash. Refill the phone with cash. Throw the receipts away.

* Don't use the phone for anything other than SMS or calls. If you must maintain a contact list using something like Gmail, only have a Gmail account active on the phone when updating/adding contacts and remove the account when done, only re-add when updating contacts.

* The most difficult part of a burner phone is it being in your possession. I have no answer for this other than to only have it with you when it's in use and try to keep it off as much as possible. This is still flimsy as the IMEI number of the SIM can be used to request triangulation/tower data thatc an be statistically mapped to get within a few yards of where the phone is located most of the time (your house, car, work).

EDIT:

If a burner phone is found in your possession and you can confidently say the following to LE knowing that nothing on the phone or messages you have sent or received incriminate you personally in any way then I think this is the only out:

"I found that phone a little while ago on the street. I don't know who it belongs to."

Default Possession

Great discussion with some intelligent folks.

I would go as far as to say, do NOT even bring your burner phone to your "appointment" because of the risk of a raid and the smartphone getting confiscated.

Keep it stashed away in a safe place, I guess at home (better yet, somewhere else), and turned off.

A good thing to keep in mind is that even if you win the court case, you can be left with several/many thousands of dollars down the drain, your house being trashed during service of the search warrant (along with your seized possessions/"evidence" - oh, they'll take and demolish your wife's computer too), and you'll have a whole lot of 'splaining to do to your wife (and kids?) after the kevlar-clad commandos leave the house. Not much of a win, all taken together. Better to not let it get to that point, by exercising due diligence to head-off that scenario.

Or, here's an idea: give up the hobby and save a ton of money. Yeah, easier said than done, but it can be done. I did it, and I'm glad I did. Pussy isn't that hard to find, even if you have little to no game. Remember that while paying a consenting adult to have sex is a crime, lying to a girl that you love her and then dumping her after getting into her panties is still PERFECTLY legal. Same with picking up mentally ill daddy-issue tramps in cop bars who will fuck anyone with a badge. Fucked up world we live in, isn't it?

I should point out that experiences I outlined above wouldn't likely happen with a simple misdemeanor bust for solicitation, but if the cops and DA play hardball and try the angle of supporting human-trafficking (which has been done), that ups the ante considerably, and they have power and resources that you can't hope to match.

It is a fucked up world we live in... Let's see if I got this straight. I can meet a girl, buy her dinner, give her gifts, give her cash, pay her bills and fuck her all I want...ALL GOOD. I can meet her on SA and agree to a $2000 a month "arrangement" where she will act like my GF and fuck me twice a week as part of the deal...No problem, I can give the same girl an actual payroll check and deduct it from my taxes to fuck 50 guys as long as I am video recording it for a "porn movie" whether the movie gets released or not...still all good, I can pay this girl to fuck herself in the ass with a giant dildo and fuck some guy while I watch...as long as it's on a Cam Site... But if she says gimme $200 and I'll fuck you...a crime has been commited!!! This actually makes my head hurt and I need a BJ now and I want to move to Asia!!!

You guys are way too worried about this shit. Follow the money I always say. So if you are not receiving money from prostitutes I dont think you have to worry. Its almost always about the money everything else is just window dressing or he said she said bullshit and sure you can be pulled into some crazy shit by the local version of Robert Mueller but the odds of that happening are slim enough for me to just use my normal cell phone cause I am single and I dont give a fuck. Back to mongering, I am getting ghosted by these SA girls lately and by ghosted I mean they just stop responding prior to a meet

I gave up the hobby for the most part except for always looking for UTR girls and occasionally the urge to go to a MP which just ends up grossing me out most of the time when they bring a laundry lady out. In either case the risk is nearly 0. The last time I tried to schedule with an escort from a web ad was years ago.
