One Reason Why Emails Disappeared
Huma Abedin was Clinton's Top Aide at the State Department and at the same time worked for the Clinton Foundation. Some of the emails coming in congressional review now indicate a lot of related conflicts of interest. Some questioning in going on about the 7,300 emails on US State Department letterhead that were sent by Abedin for business of the Clinton Foundation, while she was an employee of both, and many other issues. According to Bloomberg Politics today, Abedin has become the personification of an election-year debate over whether the nonprofit foundation will create conflicts of interest if Clinton wins the White House.
Meredith McGehee, policy director for the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center, said "Clearly this notion that it (the Clinton Foundation) while she was Secretary of State -- it was a built in problem. If you're really looking at what should happen if she's elected, neither her husband nor her daughter, certainly no relative, should have any connection with the foundation."
On a related subject of the Foundation, the tax returns made public by Clinton indicate a large percentage of their charitable giving went to the Clinton Foundation for a lucrative deduction. That is interesting when the Foundations records indicate that approximately 10% of their donation receipts are actually used for charitable giving.
