U.S. WECHAT USERS ALLIANCE, Plaintiff v. DONALD J. TRUMP, Defendant U.S. WECHAT USERS ALLIANCE Plaintiff v. DONALD J. TRUMP, in his official capacity as President of the United States Defendant https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-co...FullText-2.pdf A group of WeChat users have asked a federal judge to block Trump from imposing a ban on what appears to be all uses of the Chinese messaging app in the U.S. over Trump’s claims of national emergency security concerns. In a complaint filed in federal court in San Francisco, the U.S. WeChat Users Alliance claim Trump’s planned restriction on the app is unconstitutional. Trump’s Aug. 6 executive order bans Americans from carrying out transactions with WeChat and TikTok, another Chinese social-media platform, as of September 15. WeChat, owned by Shenzhen, China-based Tencent Holdings Ltd., is used by millions of Americans and U.S. residents to communicate with people whose first language is Chinese, according to the alliance. Trump’s Aug. 6 executive order would effectively ban WeChat’s use in the U.S, as of September 15, including anyone exchanging messages with friends, family or businesses in China |
