A video-recording system and a collection of images reportedly showing men paying for sex were discovered by Cook County Sheriff's investigators inside a Northwest Side apartment during an undercover prostitution sting.

Guo Yu, 53, of the 5400 block of North East River Road, Chicago, was arrested Monday on a prostitution charge after she allegedly offered an undercover sheriff's officer sex in exchange for money inside her residence, Cook County Sheriff's Police said in a news release.

Police responded to Yu's home in the Pavilion Apartments, less than a mile south of Park Ridge, after answering an undisclosed Web ad that offered a "superb authentic oriental rub" by a 28-year-old "beautiful, highly trained and skilled young lady" who "is there to please," the press release stated. The ad reportedly promised "an all inclusive tissue rub" for $180.

According to Sheriff's Police, when the undercover officer arrived at Yu's apartment for an appointment, she offered the officer sex for cash and was placed under arrest. Upon investigating her apartment, police discovered hidden cameras in the building's hallway, in a bedroom and inside a decorative wall fan. According to the press release a recording system was set up in another bedroom, and "years worth of tapes" were uncovered, all showing men entering the bedroom and exchanging money for sex.

About 30 hours worth of tapes were seized from the apartment, police said, and investigators were trying to determine whether the tapes were used to "further any other criminal activity against the male customers."

"It is illegal in Illinois to videotape a person in a residence without their consent or to transmit live video of a person in a residence without their consent," said Cook County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Patterson.

Special equipment had also been set up to block cell-phone calls and text messages from being sent or received inside the apartment, police said.

Yu is scheduled to appear March 25 in Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows.
