Why?
He explained why in the article. I agree. This kind of legislation could backfire on us when the shoe is on the other foot. This kind of lawsuit is stupid anyway, as if the Saudis would pay up even if an American court ruled against them. It's just grandstanding and using the 9/11 families as pawns and dupes. I don't often agree with Obama, but this kind of "feel good" legislation accomplishes nothing good.

So it remains to see now if congress will override the veto, but at the same time even if they do, it remains to be seen if anything will come of it and how it would affect things down the road, at that time, regardless of which Presidential candidate gets in.
