SCOTTS VALLEY - Scotts Valley police said Monday they are in the process of revoking a business permit for the Shiatsu Spa at 4807 Scotts Valley Drive after an undercover officer was propositioned there twice, said Lt. John Hohmann.
Hohmann said police had investigated the spa more than a year ago on suspicion of lewd acts and prostitution, but the case went cold until new information surfaced in mid-January. An undercover officer wearing recording equipment visited the business twice in the past week and was offered lewd acts for money, Hohmann said.
Friday, 62-year-old spa owner Qiuying Zhang of Scotts Valley was arrested an booked in to County Jail on suspicion of two counts of prostitution, which includes lewd acts, police said. She has since posted bail. Hohmann said the business had not been open in recent days.
"Hopefully this sent a message that this is criminal activity and it's not going to be tolerated in Scotts Valley," Hohmann said.
